Dr. Marcin Vaclaw was born and raised in Oklahoma and grew up playing and loving sports. He always knew he wanted to be in the healthcare industry, and while attending college, he became more familiar with podiatry. Dr. Vaclaw realized he could integrate his love for sports and athletics into a medical career and began the path towards becoming a foot and ankle specialist.
Before leaving Oklahoma for college, Dr. Vaclaw had the unique opportunity to live in Mexico City, Mexico for two years, where he became fluent in Spanish and developed a strong connection with the Mexican culture.
After Mexico, he attended Brigham Young University and graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in clinical psychology. Dr. Vaclaw earned his doctorate in podiatric medicine from The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and trained at their state-of-the-art facility in Independence, Ohio. While there, he also received specialized wound care training from The Cleveland Clinic. Upon graduation, Dr. Vaclaw moved to The Woodlands, TX area for a three-year residency program at Kingwood Medical Center in Kingwood, TX specializing in foot and ankle surgery and medicine. He served as Chief Resident of that program. He is also one of the first podiatrists in the country to receive a Reconstructive Rearfoot Accreditation upon residency completion.
Dr. Vaclaw opened the doors to his practice 2 days after completing residency training. He started Foot and Ankle Specialists of The Woodlands as the sole provider. He had 1 employee and worked out of a subleased workspace for 18 months. Today, Dr. Vaclaw employs 9 other podiatrists and has 16 employees with 4 clinics in the Greater Houston area.
Dr. Vaclaw loves practice management and the niche that is provided by podiatry. In addition to the 4 clinics, Dr. Vaclaw and his team have roughly 20,000 patients that they see in the home-visit setting. This particular aspect of the practice sets them apart from many other podiatry groups throughout the country.
